Likes, Follows, Tweets, Posts… how do you get the most from your social media channels?
First, what do you want to achieve from your social media channels? Are you trying to drive revenue through an online shop? Is it an effort to increase website traffic? Do you want to build a positive reputation for yourself or your business?
Whatever it is, set your objective and give yourself a target to achieve with a deadline. It will help you to stay focussed on your goal and measure the success of your efforts. Remember, if you don’t know what you want to achieve then how are you going to know if what your doing is working?
Once you know what your goal is, make your call to action prominent on your social media pages and posts. Whether it’s including a link to your website on your profile, targeting communications at industry-specific topics with thought-leadership pieces, including prices and links on photos/videos to your online shop. Make it as easy as possible for your consumer to achieve the desired call to action for your posts.
Make yourself visible. No one is going to hear what you have to say if they can’t find you, and they’re not going to be able to find you if they don’t know that you exist. Choose an easy to remember username for your profile, create shortlinks for your profile pages, include your Twitter handle Profile URL in all other communications that you have with your consumers e.g. email newsletters, adverts, blogs and websites.
Find other industry influencers and join in with group hashtags such as; #MidlandsHour to increase your audience and help your consumers to find you and your posts.
#MidlandsHour is a weekly Twitter networking event on Wednesday evenings 8pm – 9pm. Join in the chat with other like-minded business owners.
